Once sharing a bed with Gloria Widdershins, Julian's nocturnal mumblings drove her to exasperation. Her attempts to bludgeon him awake with whatever was at hand - lampshades, alarm clocks, headboards - only led to more questions than answers. For how could Julian explain the terror that gripped him? The specter of Roy 'The Bicept Burster' Bibbowski loomed large in his mind, a colossus of arm-wrestling prowess that defied comprehension.

 

Julian's obsession with the grunt and slam of competitive arm-wrestling is more than a hobby; it's a calling that has cost him dearly. His relationship with Binky Pettifogger crumbled under the weight of his passion, his impassioned monologues about the "immutable majesty" of the sport falling on increasingly disgusted ears.
